Recent Illustration Animation Graduate, Kingston University
My recent project The Yellow Wallpaper: An Illustrated Reader, began looking at a single story, Charlotte Perkins Gilman’s seminal feminist text, however it became a more expansive exercise in exploring the more active and interpretive role illustration can play in conjunction with fictional texts. In this presentation I will discuss how these distinct but overlapping mediums hold a similarly valuable potential for critique and consider their importance as tools to liberate thought from oppressive patriarchal standards.
I am a recent Kingston School of Art Illustration Graduate and have since been developing my practice as a designer, illustrator and researcher, with a particular interest in poetry and fiction publishing. I am currently working with poet Louis Glazzard to design and illustration his debut collection.
